The Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine practitioners cannot be stupid for over 4,000 years…

Using this wonder spice to treat and cure a multiplicity of health conditions!

Come to think of it…there must be something they know that you don’t!

But through this article, I’ve brought it home…

Just dive right in…

Turmeric not only adds unique flavor to food, it also jam-packs a variety of health benefits.

Spicing your food with turmeric or even taking a supplement may not meet your daily requirements…

Because our bodies can’t readily absorb enough curcumin–the main active ingredient in turmeric.

But there’s a way around it…

By eating this one simple food along with turmeric, you’ll more easily absorb the curcumin and improve your health.

Turmeric has been used for over 4,000 years to treat a variety of medical conditions.

The aromatic spice has also been used as an anti-inflammatory in both Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine to treat digestive and liver problems, skin diseases, and wounds.

Common in Indian cuisine, turmeric is what gives Indian curries their unique flavor and color. It’s also used in mustard and coloring butter and cheese.

The parts used in medicine and cooking include the roots, or rhizomes, and bulbs.

They’re usually boiled and then dried. This process turns them into the familiar yellow powder.

The main active compound is curcumin, which loads powerful anti-inflammatory effects and incredible antioxidant properties.

And this is backed by science…

Recent studies have confirmed that turmeric may help fight infections, certain cancers, reduce inflammation, and treat digestive problems.

But, there’s a challenge…

The curcumin content in turmeric is not high–only around 3% by weight.

Many studies on turmeric suggest using extracts that contain high amounts of curcumin.

To reap the real benefits of curcumin, you have to consume at least one gram per day. But as noted early on, it would be difficult to attain that level by simply spicing your food.

To experience the full effects, you’ll have to take an extract that contains a significant amount of curcumin…

And while many studies have shown turmeric is safe even at higher amounts, curcumin is poorly absorbed into the bloodstream.

In fact, animal studies show poor absorption of curcumin from the gut, with no trace of curcumin in heart blood, and only a small trace found in the portal blood within 15 minutes to 24 hours of administration.

In yet another study, only a trace amount of curcumin was present in the stomach and intestines.

Other studies show that even high dosages of curcumin won’t increase absorption.

When metabolized in the liver, the activity of curcumin tends to diminish. Additionally, the act of excretion of curcumin from the body also plays a major role in its activity.

An animal study revealed that 75% of curcumin was excreted and only trace amounts were found in the urine.

So, what can you do to improve the rate of curcumin absorption and reap the enormous health benefits?

The secret lies in black pepper.

You see, black pepper comprises 5% of the active compound piperine, which is responsible for the pungent flavor of pepper.

But that’s not all…

Piperine enhances the absorption rate of curcumin by a whopping 2,000%!

And your liver is a major variable in the jigsaw puzzle…

Because it gets rid of foreign substances by making them water-soluble so they can be more easily excreted. However, black pepper molecules inhibit that process…

Meaning if you combine a small amount of black pepper–a quarter of a teaspoon–with turmeric, the levels of curcumin in the bloodstream would skyrocket.

You may even consider swallowing a few whole peppercorns when taking a curcumin supplement to enhance absorption…

And when this happens, turmeric’s healing power covers you comprehensively…with benefits including:

  • Elongated lifespan
  • Protecting the liver from oxidative stress
  • Killing fungus even more effectively than ginger, clove, and oregano
  • Encouraging tumor cell death even in the deepest parts of individual cells
  • Killing bladder cancer cells
  • Destroying lung cancer cells
  • Lowering cholesterol levels
  • Protecting cognitive health from heavy metal toxins
  • Easing chronic inflammation and pain
  • Preventing rheumatoid arthritis
  • Regulating blood sugar
  • Nourishing skin and preventing aging, and delivering powerful
  • Anti-cancer and anti-depression effects

Undeniably, turmeric is a true health marvel!

Some experts have even argued that supplementing with turmeric is a much healthier option than conventional drugs.
